EYELID AESTHETICS(BLEPHAROPLASTY)
Due to the effects of gravity and the loss of elasticity of the skin with age, excess skin, bags, and sagging can occur in the eyelids. This can negatively affect the aesthetic appearance and can even cause visual impairment in excessively drooping eyelids. This condition is eliminated by removing excess muscle and skin tissue to give the eye area a more lively and dynamic appearance, called "blepharoplasty".

Who can have blepharoplasty?
Eyelid surgery can be performed on patients with excess skin on their eyelids, as well as in cases of congenital or traumatic eyelid drooping.

How is blepharoplasty performed?
Eyelid surgery is usually performed with local anaesthesia. General anaesthesia can also be chosen depending on the patient's preference and special circumstances.

In upper eyelid aesthetics, after evaluating the patient's condition and taking measurements, excess skin and fibrotic fat bags are removed by making an incision equal to the size of the upper lid. The scar varies according to the patient's healing time, but after a period of redness, it takes on the skin's own color and becomes like a skin line within an average of two to three months. The scar does not catch the eye as it is in a hidden area.

In lower eyelid aesthetics, after evaluating the patient's condition and taking measurements, excess skin is removed by making an incision from the bottom of the eyelashes to the eyelashes. The method of attaching the muscles to the arch of the foot is used to reduce the effect of gravity pulling the eye downwards. The scar also varies according to the patient's healing time, but after a period of redness, it takes on the skin's own colour and becomes like a skin line within an average of two to three months. The scar does not catch the eye as it is in a hidden area.

How is the post-surgery period?
After the surgery, the patient is instructed to use cold compresses on their eyes and to avoid rubbing or pressing on their eyes. Medications are prescribed to prevent infection and reduce swelling and pain. The patient can return to their normal routine within a few days but should avoid strenuous activities and exposure to direct sunlight for at least a month. It is important for the patient to follow their doctor's instructions for the best outcome.

Is blepharoplasty a permanent procedure?
The effect of blepharoplasty typically lasts for an average of ten to fifteen years. However, there may be patients who need to undergo surgery again due to a decrease in skin elasticity.
